Last week, I had the privilege of connecting with a beautiful horse named Spot during an animal communication session, an experience that touched my heart in the most unexpected way.
I first met Spot in his stall, quietly munching on some hay. As I approached, he didn’t just look at me, he read me. Animals have an incredible way of perceiving not only our physical presence but our energy as well.
At first, Spot was a little reserved, curious, but cautious. But something shifted after I centered myself and called in the support of my spirit team. He softened, leaned in, and from that point on, he stayed close. There was trust now, and a quiet connection forming between us. It was a beautiful thing to witness.
During our time together, Spot shared memories of his previous owner, what she looked like during her time on Earth, and the bond they shared. He shared with me the sadness and confusion he felt when she suddenly stopped coming to visit, not knowing she had been very ill and passed away before she could say goodbye. Spot now senses her presence at his new home. It seems their connection continues, proving that love truly lives on, even beyond this life.
He went on to tell me about his transition to his new owner and the special relationship that has since developed, one filled with kindness, trust, and love. Spot even shared some of his favorite moments, the simple joys that now make up his days. It was a privilege to hold space for his story.
So, What Is Animal Communication?
For those who may be new to the idea, animal communication is a gentle, intuitive practice that allows us to connect with animals through energetic and emotional awareness. It’s not magic or mind-reading. It’s tuning in to receive feelings, images, or impressions the animal wishes to share.
Just as we can sense a loved one’s mood without a word, we can also pick up on what an animal is feeling when we’re open and listen. Sometimes what comes through is practical, sometimes emotional, and often, it’s simply heartfelt. These moments can be deeply moving for both the animal and the human.
Horses: Soulful and Spiritual
There’s something undeniably soulful about horses. They carry a quiet wisdom, one that feels both ancient and deeply grounding. Horses don’t simply react to what we do; they respond to who we are in the moment. Their calm presence and sensitive nature often invite us to soften, slow down, and show up more authentically.
Spot was a beautiful example of this. Our connection wasn’t loud or dramatic, it was subtle, steady, and full of meaning. In his stillness, he shared messages that didn’t need words to be understood. Horses have a way of reminding us to listen with more than our ears. They are companions on the journey, gentle teachers, and, in many ways, healers of the heart.
A Language Without Words
I’m reminded of the quote by Martin Buber:
“An animal’s eyes have the power to speak a great language.”
Spot’s eyes spoke volumes. In them, I saw curiosity, strength, tenderness, and a quiet knowing that offered comfort without needing explanation. He didn’t need words to share his story. He just needed someone to be present enough to receive it.
Animal communication isn’t a rare or unreachable gift. It’s something that becomes possible when we slow down, open our hearts, and honor the bond we share with the animals in our lives. Whether it’s a horse, a dog, a cat, or a deer passing through your yard, there is always a deeper connection available when we’re willing to meet them with love and respect.
And if you ever get the chance to truly look into a horse’s eyes, don’t rush the moment. You may find that they’re not just looking at you… they’re seeing you.
